The Natural World
"Conservation means harmony between men and land. When land does well by his land; when both end up better by reason of the partnership, we have conservation. When one or the other grows poorer, we do not." - Aldo Leopold
Our goal is to create an attractive, natural area on our property using xeriscaping. This makes landscaping easier in the dry, mountain climate because of the plants' drought resistance. It also helps the environment by using less water and promoting native flowers and foliage. We plan to be good stewards of our land.
To do this, we need to have an understanding of the plants and animals that are native and invasive to our area. We also need a grasp of how the geology and climate impact our land.
