Susan started out her career in education as a music teacher, but her love of people, technology, children's literature, drama, and music all converge in her current profession, and it's a perfect fit!

As library media specialist, Susan wears many hats - teacher trainer, technology integrator, book recommender, curriculum integrator, sometimes tech-fixer, and more. One of her favorite parts of her job is teaching teachers and librarians about the ways technology can augment the curriculum. Mt. Laurel School District was the first school district in the USA to adopt the Promethean ActivBoards, and Susan has become a Promethean trainer both in and out of district.

Susan earned her bachelor's degree in music education Summa cum laude from The College of New Jersey in Ewing, NJ, and her MLS degree from the SLIS at Indiana University (Bloomington). Susan is a member of NJASL, AASL, ISTE SIGMS, and the West Jersey Reading Council (WJRC).

Susan was member of the Mt. Laurel School District Library Media Curriculum Writing Committee in the summer of 2012. Including the Common Core Standards for Language Arts was intense but worthwhile, as these standards are very relevant to what librarians do! If you have a chance, peruse one of the more exemplary Common-Core aligned library curricula (used by Susan and her colleagues as a model) by the New York City School District:

In her spare time, Susan 'moonlights' as an opera singer and enjoys spending time with her husband and two young sons.
